Slot Asserts He Feels Secure and Has Liverpool's Backing Following PSV Loss

Arne Slot conceded that it's expected for doubts to be asked about his future following a further convincing defeat against PSV Eindhoven.

Liverpool suffered their ninth defeat in 12 games, representing the team's worst streak since being relegated in 1953-54.

They were taken apart by the Eredivisie title holders on a punishing night at their home ground.

“I am feeling safe, things are alright, I have got plenty of backing from above,” the coach stated.

“It would be nice to change things and get a victory of course but when you're working as a coach and not doing well then it is normal that doubts arise.”

He continued, “I accept my situation. It is not the first time I've found myself in a challenging situation but it is about time that we changed our fortunes.”

Discussions with Club Management

When asked to expand on his conversations with the team officials, the head coach said:

“We communicate frequently. They are supportive for the squad and to me and those talks happen but they aren't calling me constantly each day to say they have faith in me.”

He mentioned, “Through standard discussions I sense the belief. However I've not talked to them after this match yet so we'll see.”

Recurring Failings and Squad Reaction

The manager lamented recurring weaknesses from his Liverpool side in their Champions League loss, namely missed opportunities and defensive lapses.

Meanwhile, player Jones was more forthright in his evaluation of the club’s predicament.

“I haven't got the answers. Truthfully, I don’t. I'm telling that to all,” the midfielder remarked.

“It's simply not good enough. I don't have to wait to consider it. I’m past getting mad inside. I’m at the point now where I simply lack the vocabulary.”

He added, “It’s hard because I play for the team I support. I'm a supporter, and I've watched this club for years.”

“For many years, I've not seen a Reds side going through a period such as this with results like these.”

Jones stated, “But we continue to wear the crest on our chest. And until that badge is gone, we will always fight.”

“We’re going to try to get this team return to its rightful place, show everyone once more what this club is about and why it's known as the top club in the world.”

“But right now, we’re in the shit and it needs to change.”
