Seamer Atkinson Adds to the English team's Injury Worries.

'Major setback' for England after Atkinson is forced off due to a hamstring issue.

Gus Atkinson increased the injury concerns plaguing England after leaving the ground during Saturday's play in the Melbourne Test versus the Australians.

The right-arm seamer experienced discomfort in his left hamstring post-delivery of the fourth over on Saturday.

The England team reported the 27-year-old had experienced "tightness" and required time away from the action in order to be assessed "during the day".

The series decider of the tour at the SCG begins on Sunday, 4 January.

The visitors have been without fast bowlers Mark Wood due to knee trouble and Jofra Archer to a side strain during this series.

A replacement bowler was brought into the squad as cover for Wood.

His form was underwhelming early in the series, claiming a mere three wickets.

He was omitted of the third Test, before being recalled for the Boxing Day match as Archer's replacement.

Surrey's Atkinson improved at the MCG, claiming a couple of wickets during the host's first knock, and scoring 28 runs with the bat as one of just three teammates to get into double digits.

Following a brief spell at the end of day one, he returned for the second day's play and had nightwatchman Scott Boland caught behind.

Unfortunately, on the final ball of that over, he delivered a change of pace to Travis Head and suddenly grabbed at his leg.

The English bowler was recalled for the Melbourne match after being left out of the third.
