Individual That Touched Ariana Grande during Red Carpet Event Barred from Singapore
An individual of Australian nationality who vaulted over a barricade and grabbed Hollywood star Ariana Grande has been expelled and banned from Singapore.
The individual, aged 26, was given a sentence to more than a week in jail for disrupting public order and has now been "prohibited from returning to Singapore," the country's border control informed news outlets.
The man shoved past photographers and approached aggressively the celebrity, who was participating in the regional launch for the film on the thirteenth of November. Co-performer Cynthia Erivo intervened to remove him from Grande.
He has a background of disrupting concerts and high-profile gatherings, including leaping onto the platform at a Katy Perry performance in Sydney in June this year.
The incident caused anger in Singapore, with numerous people saying he of triggering past trauma for the singer.
The singer has spoken of dealing with PTSD after a suicide bomb attack at her performance in the English city in May 2017 took the lives of 22 people and hurt numerous attendees.
In the legal process, the judge was informed he had attempted to intrude on the movie's debut on two occasions, according to Singaporean media.
He then made a second attempt to breach security. Event security intercepted him and pinned him down.
The man subsequently shared video clips thanking Grande for permitting his access and said he was "released."
Police arrested him the next day and accused him with causing a disturbance, to which Wen pleaded guilty.
The Presiding Judge the magistrate was referenced by a news outlet as saying that the man sought attention, noting that he was incorrect to believe he would not suffer any consequences.
The actress has not spoken about the incident.
Erivo discussed the situation to a media outlet, remarking that she "just wanted to verify my colleague was protected."
"I'm sure he had no intention to us injury, but you cannot be certain with those things, and I wanted to confirm that she was OK. That was my initial reaction," she stated.
