Over a fortnight following the shocking loss of celebrated filmmaker Rob Reiner and his partner, photographer Michele Reiner, the entertainment community are still paying respects to the duo.
A Heartfelt Farewell: Cary Elwes Recalls His Director
Sharing on social media, actor Cary Elwes, who starred in Reiner's beloved 1987 film *The Princess Bride*, stated he finally felt ready to share openly about his profound loss.
"Enough time has elapsed that I can now express my sorrow into words," shared Elwes, adding that his first meeting with Reiner made him fall in love. "As we began sharing more moments together I understood this was someone I wanted in my life."
The actor shared never-before-seen clips from the movie, commenting that he doesn't recollect "any day without mirth".
"This story is about love, loyalty and sacrifice. Things that Rob held dear. This is one of the many reasons he was the best person to helm it," Elwes continued.
He went on to praise Michele Reiner, noting: "Asserting that they were a formidable pair would be an oversimplification. My heart still hurts every time I think of you." He finished with a line from *The Princess Bride*: "Indeed, death cannot stop true love but life is pain without you."
Martin Scorsese Remembers a Colleague and Comrade
In a separate tribute, legendary director Martin Scorsese shared memories of Reiner, whom he initially encountered in the 1970s.
"Immediately, I loved spending time with Rob. We had a instant connection for each other. He was hilarious and sometimes sharply witty, but he was never the kind of guy who would dominate the room," Scorsese said.
Scorsese mentioned Reiner's cameo appearance in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, embodying the father of the main character.
"He was skilled at improv with the best. He was a virtuoso at comedy, he worked beautifully with his co-stars, and he grasped the emotional dilemma of his character," Scorsese wrote.
Judicial Actions: Autopsy Reports Restricted
In a new development, a Los Angeles superior court judge ruled to block the release of the Reiners' medical examiner's reports, at the request from the local authorities.
A judicial mandate placed a security hold on the investigation to limit the public release of "related notes, notes, reports or photos" connected to the active case.
The Medical Examiner's office had earlier stated their deaths were the consequence of homicide, with a official listing noting the cause as "multiple sharp force injuries".

Ex-President Donald Trump commented on the matter, making provocative remarks that were widely condemned by many public figures.
Podcaster Joe Rogan contributed his perspective to the those speaking out last week. Conversing on his podcast, Rogan characterized the statements as "disappointing" and suggested they showed a troubling deficiency of sympathy.
Rogan concluded by proposing that an adviser could have intervened when the impulse to comment on the death was made.
